Marriage and domestic partner registration both involve a host of rights and responsibilities, and it’s critical that you be informed about the consequences before making the decision to enter into a legal relationship. Emily can provide that information and help you make decisions about what will best serve your family’s needs.
Consultation
If you’re unsure about whether you want to marry, Emily can meet with one or both partners to discuss your particular situation, provide you with resources, and help you come to a decision.
Before marrying or registering as domestic partners, some couples agree to establish terms for their relationship that may differ from the legal rules that would otherwise apply. They set out these terms in a prenuptial or pre-registration agreement.
Preparation of Prenuptial Agreement
Emily can work with one partner to prepare or review a prenuptial or pre-registration agreement, with both partners together to draft an agreement that will then be reviewed by each partner’s independent attorney, or in a collaborative model in which each partner has an attorney and decisions are made together in four-way meetings.
Fees for Prenuptial Agreement Services: $500 per hour for consultation time. For most prenuptial agreements a mixed flat and hourly fee structure will apply.
